Final Prep!
With only a few days left until blastoff, the whole trip now seems real. Funny through the whole planning and logistics phases, to me it is really just problem solving. Start with the objectives, factor in available time, determine any limiting constraints, and start solving the problem. It is pretty much what I have been doing in my career for over 25 years. But, during those months of planning the execution of the plan (the actual trip), is really an abstract. However, when you get down to final bike preparations and packing, it suddenly becomes a reality. Anyway, after making an attempt to put new tires on Jenn's bike up at the lake last weekend with our friends Neal and Daniel, Jenn took it over to MSP to have to have it done by the professionals. I spent a big part of the week putting a new fender eliminator kit (birthday present from my wonderful wife) on my FZ8, so I could have the coolest bike in Nova Scotia! Sorry Jenn and Daniel, you know its true :) So the bikes all set, the plan in place, all the needed rooms reserved, the next step is to actually hit the road. Plans have already changed slightly. Jenn has been called out of town and won't get back before Daniel and I will depart as scheduled very early Thursday morning on our 1500 mile trip to New Brunswick. Jenn will not get back in town until later that day, so we will meet back up in St John late Friday after she and Erin land on their flight from Atlanta. If all goes as planned, Friday night we will be enjoying a cocktail, looking out at the Bay of Fundy excitedly discussing the morning ferry ride to Nova Scotia. I will give some final thoughts on Launch Day, June 21.
